The Blu-ray software tends to be either unreliable or mysteriously slow. I'm not against spending some money on better software, be it one product that does it all, or separate products for transcoding and authoring. The transcode for H.264 Blu-ray looked fine. The transcode for MPEG-2 DVD from the Mainconcept codec included seems to be pretty poor compared to some testing I did with TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works. I've been fine with Encore for actual menu creation, and it has a pretty nice free library to worth it. I have Creative Suite CS6 so I have Premier Pro, Encore and Media Encoder already at my disposal Wondering what you guys use for transcoding and authoring your content to DVD/Blu-ray.
