The Blu-ray software tends to be either unreliable or mysteriously slow. I find that making high quality Blu-rays is easily three times the work and time that it takes to make the equivalent quality DVD. Encore will load x264 output under the right conditions. If you want to push the quality, x264 makes amazing. Each has a so-so transcoder from mainconcept in it. I don't think it is sold anymore but it is very nice.įor Blu-rays, the main authoring games in town are Encore and DVD Architect. The cinemacraft basic transcoder will make nicer output if you need to push the quality above what the authoring apps internal transcoder does. I'm not against spending some money on better software, be it one product that does it all, or separate products for transcoding and authoring. The transcode for H.264 Blu-ray looked fine. The transcode for MPEG-2 DVD from the Mainconcept codec included seems to be pretty poor compared to some testing I did with TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works. I've been fine with Encore for actual menu creation, and it has a pretty nice free library to worth it. I have Creative Suite CS6 so I have Premier Pro, Encore and Media Encoder already at my disposal Wondering what you guys use for transcoding and authoring your content to DVD/Blu-ray. Panasonic HD Writer does not need to do an re-encoding to output the final.

As this is not meant to be a professional grade endeavor, I am not doing anything overly involved in the editing stage. I'm using a Panasonic TM90 to take video recorded AVCHD 1080/60p. The studio wants to sell DVD/Blu-ray of their recital/summer showcase events. I am the unofficial videographer for my daughter's dance studio. u/shickey maintains a videography-themed weekly challenge subreddit, so if you're looking for something to shoot head on over to /r/DoCreativeĬamera, NLE, year started, general location
